Okay, question. Is there a free VOIP service so I can get on to ZPB without running up my damn phone bill? And any good client out there?

You could use ekiga or linphone sip clients. Yo need to sign up for an account on a service like ekiga.net or iptel.org.

Thanks. I tried the one from NCH like on Monday, and holy shit, it was laggy! I pressed the voicemail number two like fifty times and never got through. I hope that Linphone and Ikega are FREE as in cost, too.

Ekiga and Linphone are free as in cost; linphone is fre, as in freedom, as well, though ekiga has a non-free dependency, I think? If you're in Suseville, both should be in the repos. To connect to the zone by phone thing, you need not dial numbers; connect to sip:111@zonebbs.com. The lag may be independent of client.

Okay, I'll check out Linphone.

And sign up for an address at iptel.org if you like. If you want to interact with landlines and mobiles, I think you can buy numbers and talk time there, as well. The ekiga client has options for doing this on ekiga.net.

Also check your firewall to allow the client access. typically ports 5060.

Hmm. Something is up with these things. I can log in perfectly, but when I get to the Zone By Phone main menu, my number presses do nothing. Odd.

What are you using as a sip (VOip) client? There are certain settings relating to DTMF so, you will have to ensure that yours is set correctly. Play around with those and test it. the ZBP system is working just fine. I have tested it.

I am using Microsip. Now, at any rate. Linphone is not accessible to Windows, and Ekega is out of the question. Microsip can call in, but the DTMF pad disappers in call. Any other suggestions? Why is Ekega out of the question? Because it requires some subscription to some PBX thingy, and I just want to call the SIP service. Not landlines.

Ekiga does not require any subscriptions! You can set up an account with any sip provider and use that address in ekiga client. Maybe you can even sip in anonymously with ekiga client?

Hmm. I meant subscription wise. I will give Ekiga another look, but some damn dialog popped up about subscriptions and PBX stuff that I don't want. But anonomous SIP would hopefully work, we'll see.

I foudn the SipPhone from 3CX is pretty nice, and the SJPhone is always a screen reader friendly service. ekiga is nice for SIP stuff and what not. I want to find a fully functional VOIP server that i could buy from a reseller for a company though. but that's something new entirely. lol

Kudos to Hanif. He got me started on Spokn, and a client that is very accessible and finally works with ZBP. Thanks, guys!
